Sincerely, Soulstice

Sincerely, Soulstice was a dream turned to reality. In April of 2022, I pitched the idea to dedicate our spring concert to celebrating our 25th anniversary concert to the rest of our executive board, and they loved it. The concert took place on March 19th at 2pm at Virginia Tech's performance hall, Moss Arts Center. The graphics and videos below made up the entire brand I've been planning out for 11 months.

About the Event

Soulstice A Cappella is Virginia Tech's premier all-women acapella group founded in 1998. The group consists of 18 members, ranging from freshman to senior year. While music is what brought us all together, the girls in Soulstice come from many different backgrounds—creating a diverse group of women who sing with soul and pursue a wide range of academic endeavors.

Jessica Green founded this female-led group in the midst of her first year at Virginia Tech wondering where she can find a singing outlet right for her. Over the course of 25 years, Soulstice has grown and bloomed in more ways than Green can imagine. I thought of the idea to commemorate Jessica and Soulstice’s legacy during my junior year. I knew this would be a huge project so I wanted to start conceptualizing as soon as possible. Alongside Soulstice’s concert director and executive board, the group was able to rent the 3,000+ performance hall to honor and celebrate 25 years of sisterhood and music.

About the Design

The design for the event was fixated on the celebration of 25 years. I immediately knew I wanted to incorporate silver since that is the common color to commemorate 25 years. However, it was a fun challenge incorporating the silver into our very “golden” brand. I say that because in all my years of creative director, gold has always been our color, tone, and shade. To balance the silver out with our current branding, I decided to have the primary colors as rust and cream with grey really being used to announce the concert initially and as a secondary color in the palette. The design is playful, yet classy creating a nice balance between who we are as the current group of girls as well as the significance of the event and how much it means to the women of Soulstice.
